Tο Πρόγραμμα Μεταπτυχιακών Σπουδών (ΠΜΣ) «Αγγλική Γλώσσα, Γλωσσολογία και
Μετάφραση» του Τμήματος Αγγλικής Γλώσσας και Φιλολογίας, σε συνεργασία με
το Διατμηματικό Πρόγραμμα Μεταπτυχιακών Σπουδών (ΔΠΜΣ) «Μετάφραση:
Ελληνική, Αγγλική, Ρωσική», διοργανώνει τη σειρά διαλέξεων «Σεμινάρια του
ΠΜΣ/ΔΠΜΣ» σχετικά με θεματικές που αφορούν τη γλώσσα, τη γλωσσολογία και
τη μετάφραση.
Η επόμενη διάλεξη θα πραγματοποιηθεί την Πέμπτη, 15 Μαΐου στις 11 πμ
στο Αμφιθέατρο της Βιβλιοθήκης της Φιλοσοφικής Σχολής. Θα ακολουθήσει
κέρασμα.

“Rethinking resemblance”
Abstract
Resemblance is one of the key contributions that relevance theory (Sperber
and Wilson 1986/1995) has made in pragmatics. Unlike other approaches in
pragmatics, relevance theory explicitly acknowledges that any
representation, artificial or otherwise, can be used in communication by
virtue of its resemblance to some other thoughts. This notion has since
been applied to various communicative phenomena, including style,
translation and discourse markers. While resemblance can be of anything,
previous studies have primarily focused on interpretive resemblance, where
two representations resemble each other at the level of thought. However,
with an increase in interest in non-verbal communication, research into
different types of resemblance, perceptual resemblance in particular, has
emerged. In this talk, I will examine a range of communicative phenomena
involving resemblance. I will show the need to rethink resemblance and the
potential for future research direction.
