PROFILE

Eugenia Dacoronia graduated (1979) and received her doctorate (1994) from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens with excellence. Attended several courses abroad (Amsterdam, King’s College, London, Tulane University, New Orleans, USA) and conducted postdoctoral research at the Wake Forest University Winston, Salem, USA and at the European Centre of Tort and Insurance Law in Vienna, Austria.

She has lectured in the Athens Law School, among others, the following modules:

- “General Principles of the Greek Civil Code”, “Real   Property Law”, “Environmental Law” to the undergraduate students.

- “Torts in the legal system of the USA”, “Interpretation of laws and contracts” to the post-graduate students.

- “Introduction to the Greek Civil   Code” (in English) to the Erasmus  students in Athens.

She has lectured on “Issues of Tort Law” in the frame of the Erasmus staff mobility at several Universities (Paris X Nanterre La Défence, Innsbruck, Austria, Mykolas Romeris University, Vilnius, Lithuania) as well as on "Environmental liability and ecological damage: a comparative approach" in the Summer Academy of the Portuguese Catholic University in Lisbon, Portugal.

She has participated in various European Research Projects and participated as a national representative for Greece:

-in all Annual Conferences on European Tort Law, organised by the European Centre of Tort and Insurance Law in Vienna from 2002- today, presenting yearly the report on the development of Tort Law in Greece.

-in the XIIΙ, XIV, XVIII  and XX Congresses of the International Academy of Comparative Law, held in Montreal (1990), Athens (1994), Washington, D.C., USA (2010) and Fukuoka, Japan  (2018) presenting National reports on  “Time-sharing”, “Mass Torts”, “Catastrophic Harms” and “The Use of the UPICC in order to Interpret or Supplement National Contract Law” respectively.

Her areas of interest are private law (contract law, tort law, law of environment). Member of the Athens Bar (since 1981). She has participated as an arbitrator/President in several arbitrations (ad hoc/ICC) and she is a European Patent Attorney.

ANCILLARY ACTIVITIES

She has been elected as member of the UNIDROIT Governing Council for 5 years (2019-2023).

She has been appointed by the European Commission as a member of the Expert Group on Liability and New Technologies, in its New Technologies Formation (2018).

Since 2011 she is full Member of the European Group on Tort Law (EGTL) and a fellow of the European Law Institute (ELI) since its foundation (2011).

Since 2004 she is a fellow of the European Centre of Tort and Insurance Law in Vienna.

She has also been:

- Member (2012-2013) and then the President of the Supervisory Body of the Greek Independent Power Transmission Operator S.A. (2013-2015).

- Member of the EPI Litigation Committee (2008-2011).

- Member of the Central Codification Committee of the Greek Parliament (2006-2017).

Since March 2017 she is a member of the Naturalisation Committee of the Greek Ministry of Interior.
