Paraskevi Paparseniou is a Professor of Civil Law at the University of Athens, Faculty of Law and has been an Attorney at Law since 1990. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Athens, (1988) and her postgraduate studies at the University of Hannover, Faculty of Law (1990). She obtained her PhD at the University of Athens (1994) submitting her PhD thesis on «Financial Leasing – A critical analysis in the light of liability for defects».
Her main research areas apart from Civil Law include European Private Law, Consumer Protection Law and Copyright Law. She was a member of a Study Group financed by the European Commission and supported by the Faculty of Law of the University of Bielefeld which was involved in the «Annotated Compendium including a comparative analysis of the Community Consumer Acquis» (2005-2006). She was a member of the Board of Trustees of ERA Academy of European Law in Trier, Germany (2012-2015). She frequently visits Max Planck Institute for Innovation and Competition (Munich) as well as the Law Faculty of the University of Munich (LMU) to pursue research work.
Paraskevi Paparseniou teaches General Principles of Civil Law, Contract Law, Inheritance Law and Advanced Lessons of Civil Law in the undergraduate course of studies and European Private Law as well as Consumer Protection Law in the postgraduate course of studies. She is the author of five principal monographs mainly concerning areas of European Contract Law and Copyright Law and of numerous articles published in law journals and collective works in Greek, German and English.

Paraskevi Paparseniou has been a member of various legislative committees. She is currently a member of the Legislative Committee for the implementation of the Directive 2019/770/EU on the supply of digital content and digital services and of the Directive 2019/771/EU on certain aspects concerning the sale of goods into Greek Law. She is also a member of the Central Committee of Codification, which was established according to Law 4622/2019.
She is a member of the Athens Bar Association. She acts as a consultant on private law issues representing individuals, legal entities, NGO’s, and consumer associations.
